About the event

Self-Care is often talked about, but how are we prioritizing this to avoid secondary trauma, burnout and compassion fatigue? How do we promote self-care in immigrant communities, where this concept may be foreign to them? Please join the Upstate IVC team and their guests in exploring this topic and sharing ways we put our mental, physical and emotional health first. 

Our guest speakers:

Cindy Huang

  • LPC-A (Licensed Professional Counselor)
  • NCC (National Certified Counselor)
  • SC State Court Qualified Interpreter US Federal Court Language Skilled Interpreter (English <> Mandarin)

Cindy is passionate about generating awareness and providing support for mental health in the immigrants and Asian American communities.

Criss A. Cuervo

  • Consultant at AlmaYEspíritu
  • Author of Pertenæcer©
  • Partnerships Lead at Cloud Sangha

Criss co-authored a paper titled “Building a more Diverse and Inclusive Science: Mindfulness-based Approaches for Latinx Individuals” which was published in the Mindfulness Journal. Her most recent certification is a Mindfulness Mentor Training with Cloud Sangha.

The SCIVC is a network of professionals, advocates, law enforcement, attorneys, health care providers and community leaders dedicated to ensuring access to services and justice for immigrants. Our meetings are always free to attend and open to all. We welcome all to our table!
